Africa is joining the telenovela remake craze.
Canal 13 has just closed a deal with the Ultima Limited, owner of a tv channel in Nigeria, to produce the
said country's adaptation of the Chilean telenovela. Production, the networks agreed, is set to start in September.
While the original had 150 episodes, the Nigerian version is planned to be only 90 episodes long. But, only 36 episodes will be shot initially.
The Nigerian version is not the first remake though. Mexico's TV Azteca also remade the Chilean telenovela. If negotiations are also sucessful, Greece, France and Spain may also have their own versions.
