Sony Pictures Television and MTV Latin America are gearing up for their a new teen telenovela called Ninas Mal, slated to air in MTV Latin America in the third quarter of 2010.
The telenovela will tell the story of a group of teenage girls from high society who try to break the rules that fate has laid out for them. It can be recalled that in 2007, a movie produced by Columbia Pictures of the same title was released. There is no word yet, however, if the telenovela will be based, even loosely, on the movie starring Camila Sodi and Martha Higareda.
Niñas Mal will have 70 one-hour episodes and will be produced by Teleset, Sony Pictures Television's production house in Colombia. Sony is hopeful about this new format and wishes to have the same success as Isa TKM and Isa TK+, telenovelas produced by Nickelodeon Latin America.
